Alex came to me with a book he was looking to publish, and needed some help with concepts for the cover artwork. The approved concept was developed to reflect both the physical demands of endurance running and the deeper themes of resilience, mental health, and personal growth explored within the book. The concept combines topographic-style textures and route graphics inspired by trail running maps, symbolising not only physical journeys through challenging terrain, but also the process of navigating difficult periods in life and overcoming mental obstacles.
The typography was intentionally stacked and bold to convey strength, stability, and endurance, while the route graphic flows directly through the letterforms to create a visual connection between movement, struggle, and growth, and reinforces the idea that resilience and challenge are interconnected parts of the same journey, both on the trail and in everyday life.
